It's a "racing certainty" that THE VILLAGE RACEHORSE will lead you down the track to lots of fun.... but just as importantly, it could potentially help raise funds for good causes and community projects in the village you live in.
It is a brand new initiative and as far as we know, in the 300 year history of horse racing -- it is a first!
Let's hope it puts us in the Winners Circle!
We are currently trying to find fun-seeking "locals" from the following villages (Withington, Compton Abdale, North Cerney, Rendcomb, Calmsdon, Chedworth, Woodmancote, Colesbourne & surrounds) to get together to race a horse, cared for by leading trainer Fergal O'Brien.
However, if you dont come these villages you are still welcome to join in!
and... we would be happy consider contributing to good causes in your local community.
For a modest one-off investment of £1000 for the year, we promise you all the excitement of racehorse ownership, whilst raising funds for the curtains at the Village Hall (and of course other worthy projects!)
OUR HORSE - NEWMILL GETAWAY
We are pleased to intruduce our first Village Racehorse, Newmill Getaway, trained by Fergal O'Brien at Withington....
Newmill Getaway is a 7 year old mare, by the sire Getwaway out of the mare Presenting Newmill.
She has been leased to our Racing Club.
To date she has 14 career starts for 1 win, 4 seconds and 3 thirds
and earnt £11,980 in prize money. (March 2026)
Her last campaign came in the summer of 2025, where she recorded two good seconds at Bangor and Fontwell.
